This decoupling gives you a perfectly accurate view of both your raw pantry and your ready-to-sell pastry case.

Why does the system strongly suggest using grams instead of cups?

We recommend using grams as your base unit to guarantee strict measurement accuracy. Volume measurements like cups can vary wildly depending on how an ingredient settles or is scooped. While the FLOURish unit conversion engine can bridge volume to weight using USDA global density mapping, relying on grams ensures every batch is identical and every calculated cent of your profit is exact.

How does the system handle buying in bulk but baking in small batches?

The platform features a robust backend unit conversion engine. You can log the purchase of a 50lb bag of flour, and when you bake a recipe written in grams, the system automatically runs the exact fractional conversions. It accurately deducts the weight and calculates the First-In-First-Out (FIFO) cost of the ingredients used.

Can I track waste and unsold items?

Yes. Real-world profit margins aren't just about what you sell; they are also about what gets lost. FLOURish includes dedicated waste logs to track both raw ingredient spoilage and unsold finished goods (like end-of-day bread).
